The Power of One
God has been showing me lately about the power of touching one person's life. I've been so consumed with God touching "the masses" that I would forget the importance of the one right in front of me. It was so easy for me to look around at church and think of who was missing, rather than look around at the people that were there and how I could see God use me to bless them. I've been leading a team at the church that visits visitors from the church unannounced. Our purpose in going is to bless them and to see if we can share the gospel (the good news about Jesus! oh yea!) with them. One thing I've been learning through this is about the power that touching that one life has. Whether we are blessing a Christian family that is looking for a new church or we get to pray for healing or the baptism of the Holy Spirit or even lead someone to trust and faith in Christ, it's been awesome. Last week I met a wonderful family that is just so precious to Jesus. It's a long story, but let's just say God's power is alive today. Arion (another young man at the church) and I got to see God's love really touch a lady at the house. She rennounced some bondage, asked Jesus to forgive her sins, and literally got layed out as the love and the presence of God touched her life. At one point while we were ministering to her, she was able to forgive herself, and when she did that, you could just feel a "weight" lifting off of her. It was so amazing to watch how God set up the whole night. As I was thinking about things later that week, I pondered how I might have just said hi and walked away without taking the risk of touching someone's life with the love and power of God. Each person before us is so valuable and precious to God. He's so radically in love with each person. When we risk to demonstrate love, God is ready to meet people in that place. When someone is on a collision course with the love of our Heavenly Father, you know something good is going to take place. It's so big to be aware of the one right before us. We can change a school, a neighborhood, a family, a city, by just loving the one right in front of us. You never know what God will do in and through the one. Take the risk to show people who Jesus is and what His kingdom is all about!
